What I Did On My Summer Vacation

Since April, I have moved from Scotland to Texas via Iceland and Boston. Released my debut YA novel, Pretty Dark Nothing, met R2-D2, visited Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York City twice. Road tripped to Kansas City, Nashville, Houston, Tyler, and Princeton New Jersey. Appeared on a local news television show. Signed books and met amazing readers in seven different cities. Got purple streaks put in my hair, came up close and personal with a polar bear, and saw a cheetah being walked on a leash at San Diego Zoo. Finished my early draft of Pretty Dark Nothing 2 and sent it to my editor with excitement and fear. Fangirled over meeting writers such as Veronica Roth, Beth Revis, Amy Plum, Leigh Bardugo, Melissa Marr, Sharon Cameron, Sonia Gensler, Ransom Riggs, Gretchen McNeil,Lisa M Basso, Jackie Kessler, Myra McEntire, Neil Gaiman, and so many more! Went to the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators national conference to learn, network, be inspired, grow as a writer, and recharge my creative batteries. Reconnected with old friends, met online friends in person, and made new ones that will last a lifetime. I’m exhausted! Thank you to all the readers, writers, bloggers, librarians, teachers, book sellers, fellow Month9Books authors and staff, friends, twitter followers, commenters, reviewers, and family who have supported, promoted, and encouraged me over the last six months. You’ve made this a summer I’ll never forget! I couldn’t do it without you! You are all part of this journey and I am thankful for each and every one of you.

I want to take a nice, long nap just after reading this!
Congrats, I am so proud of you, and thrilled to have met you over the summer.
    Hugs and chocolate!

I have to agree with Tonia, I’m exhausted after reading this post! But WOW, what a fantastic summer!! I can’t wait to see what’s coming in PDN2! I feel so grateful to have met you and have you in my life; I’m putting myself on the lifetime list :).
