I hate being interrupted in the middle of reading a good book. How about you? Julian Smith’s youtube video is the perfect expression of how it makes me feel. I hope it makes you smile even if you’ve seen it before. I’m knee-deep in re-writes today but will be back on Monday to discuss finding a creative space to write. What are you guys up to today? Enjoy and have a great weekend! 🙂

I love that video, and totally agree–and it did make me smile, again. 🙂 I’m knee-deep in revisions too. Happily, today I’m working on a chapter I’ve always loved. And luckily my editor was complimentary too, so I just have to tighten the screws. Not a bad job, for a Friday.
I gave you a shout out in my comment over at WU today, if you haven’t seen it–about Purplechocolate’s demand for uniqueness. Also, I feel like a heel for not having ‘liked’ your FB author page yet. I just saw it when Jan O’Hara liked it (her blog post toady, btw, which I loved). Have a great weekend, Heather!
Thanks, Vaughn! I’m glad your rewrites are going well. Who do you have editing your book? I know you told me before, but my brain doesn’t want to access that info right now. I’m going to start looking for an editor myself once the rewrites are done.
Thanks for the shout out. I’ll head over to WU now to read Jan’s post. I’ve been restricting my internet use today, but so far, I’m not doing too well.
Have a great weekend! Oh, and thanks for liking my FB page 🙂
Jan’s blog post TODAY… not toady. I would’ve just left it, but it sounds suspiciously insulting, and I got nuthin’ but love for Jan. 🙂
I hired the fabulous Cathy Yardley (fellow WU FB member). She does content/story editing, not line editing. She gave me a page by page doc with her impressions, big and small, then a multi-page critique, broken down for each of the major characters, voice, story, etc. Some of it was tough to read, but overall it’s been hugely helpful, as well as a big confidence boost. She did it in April or May, while I was still working on my last ms. It was great to give her feedback a few months to let it steep. I highly recommend her. Here’s a link to her Rock Your Writing blog: http://rockyourwriting.com/
I’ll probably go through one more round of submissions when I’m done (I have a new crop of betas lined up for a last look before the line editor, whom I have yet to choose). But if I get no solid bites, I’m going to publish it myself. Cathy also does freelance publicity, and I’ve told her I will be hiring her publicity services either way, as she knows and believes in the story. It’s all very exciting.
Thanks for asking! My pleasure on the FB page. 🙂
OH, MY GOODNESS THAT IS TOO FUNNY!!! I’m in the library so I couldn’t laugh out loud. You have to put that on twitter.
I’m just on the third round of edits and trying to finish. You have a FB page? I’ll go over and like it.
Have a great weekned.
